Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. (to which we will refer as “Konami”) is a company based in 1-11-1, Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, 104-0061 Japan. Konami is a subsidiary of KONAMI GROUP CORPORATION, the parent company of the Konami Group, on behalf of whose companies this privacy notice is issued.

Konami and the Konami Group companies offer you the online games and console games including the one you are about to begin playing now. The way in which we use your personal data when you play our games is very important to us. Konami and the Konami Group companies use your data as described below.

We process this personal data in accordance with the applicable EU and Member State regulations on data protection in particular, the General Data Protection Regulation No 2016/679 (the “GDPR”).

1.Our use of your personal data

Your personal data may be used in order to help us provide you with Konami games and game related services, including

  1. running the game;
  2. specifying the user;
  3. improving the game quality;
  4. providing notifications to the user;
  5. preventing cheating or unfair behaviour; and
  6. when you agree, sending marketing information or providing behavioural advertisements

Konami and the Konami Group companies process your data for our own interests as well as for your interest, so we provide and you receive the game services that you have requested and you expect from us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Sometimes, we may need your consent in order to process certain parts of your personal data (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). When this is the case, you may change your mind at any time, but until then we will use the data for the purposes which we explained above.

We keep your personal data for as long as it is necessary to ensure that Konami and the Konami Group companies will continue to offer you the games that you are playing. After the termination of any game or game service, Konami and the Konami Group companies will retain your personal data for a certain period (i) according to any requirements in order to comply with our legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing our agreements; (ii) according to all laws and regulations applicable to Konami and the Konami Group companies; and (iii) according to the terms of the contracts with business partners (e.g., for auditing purposes). We also apply specific data retention periods to certain data collected from you related to games (which is deleted 6 months after the end of the service) and game enquiries (which is deleted 27 months after the end of the communication).

We keep your personal data for as long as it is necessary to ensure that Konami and the Konami Group companies will continue to offer you the games that you are playing. In certain situations, we might need your approval to collect your personal data. In these cases, you can always tell us that you do not want us to have your personal data. Then we will erase your personal data, but until then we will use the data for the purposes which we explained above.

2.Our sharing of your personal data with other companies

We may share your personal data with other companies as a result of the sale of the company or business that offers the Konami games to another company, or in cases where Konami and the Konami Group companies have to disclose the personal data by law or by order of an authority (e.g., a judge or court).

We may also share personal data with other companies for different reasons, e.g.: (1) to ensure that you respect our terms of offer of the Konami games; and (2) to protect the Konami Group business.

Konami and the Konami Group companies share personal data with other companies of the Konami Group (e.g., Konami Digital Entertainment Co. Ltd. 3.Transfers of data to other countries

As indicated above, Konami and the Konami Group companies may send your personal data to other companies outside your country. When this is the case, Konami and the Konami Group companies have adopted and implemented Standard Contractual Clauses to oblige the company that receives your data to use it fairly and legally.

4.Your rights and requests to Konami

You have the following rights that you can use with Konami or the Konami Group companies.

  1. Access to personal data: You have the right to access your personal data that the Konami Group is using.
  2. Correction or deletion of personal data: You have the right to ask the Konami Group to correct or complete your personal data if it is wrong or incomplete. You may also have the right to ask the Konami Group to delete your personal data, when certain conditions apply.
  3. Restriction on processing of personal data: You may have the right to ask the Konami Group to restrict the use of your personal data, when certain conditions apply.
  4. Object to processing of personal data: You may have the right to object to the use of your personal data by the Konami Group, when certain conditions apply.
  5. Portability of personal data: You may have the right to receive your personal data in a structured and commonly used format so you can use this data with another company, when certain conditions apply.

Furthermore, when your personal data is sent by the Konami Group from the EEA to a country outside the EEA, you can request from us a copy of the Standard Contracts that we have used to send your data.
